my first ever guy, turned against me!! now returned for my blood!!! i get so many followers that look exactly the same as others that when it started playing the cutscene of them jumping out of this loot chest i thought wait that's not my first guy is it...no it couldn't be it's just randomly-generated blue bird no. 4527. wouldn't let me leave the area until i killed them so i did what hafta be did.... i know the place was a mess back when you left dude but if you'd given me a second chance and came back you woulda seen we now have a toilet

you know the first pair to ask to boink being gross spider people doesn't do much for me, but now i see the purpose of mating in being able to pickenchoose the offspring's traits. all too often do i get just a totally useless guy joining my cult. just some real sacrifice fodder. finally i can put them to use by throwing them in the sack, and the baby's loyalty levels up real fast too. not accepting any criticism of my decision to raise children square between the drinkhouse and the dumphouse and also in a devil hell cult

unlocked all cult upgrades and buildings and now all the devotion i get turns into money instead, it's kind of like real religion. felt like a real "you're at the end of the game go nuts" point because the amount of gold that gets spit out of the shrine is just absurd, like going rogueing seemed almost pointless now. had to have a certain amount of followers at a given moment to unlock new areas but they kept dying off faster than i could find new ones, now i just step outside and buy them

final boss fight!!(?) he was pretty easy. do you know how much power i've bought with the money from your religion dude i could buy god. i got scared that he was gonna kill my guys because bosses in this game will just do that but as it turns out he's just a harmless little guy

and i mean "guy" as in follower buddy you're coming with me. that's lamb game baby! then the game crashed before the end credits so i'll never know who made it

now i'm back to getting upgradejuice from prayers instead of gold, to exchange for items i don't really care about. it also un-unlocked the other dungeon areas in which i had active quests, so a warning for these things would have been nice. anyway first things first

i hate this little freak Sozo eating all my mushrooms before i can harvest them, kept asking me to rescue mushroomguys from dungeons so he could eat them as well. first one i found had a trait that if they wore a fancy unique dress they'd generate devotion faster so i uncheaply crafted one for them to put on, and five seconds later it cuts to Sozo making cartoon gobbling-up noises and my mushroomguy is gone. i wondered how many times i'd have to this whole song and dance but apparently i just had to tell him No and he'd stop

i like when games just have things happen. randomly upon dying one time to a boss it put me here and unlocked a bunch of new things, then revived me for whatever reason, never seen it before so maybe it was a first-postgame-death thing. similarly i like entering random dungeon rooms and there's just an NPC there who says something to me and then i unlock something significant, like oh! i guess i just like arbitrary event trigger conditions. cool on a first playthrough when i don't know nothing about nothing, probably annoying everytime afterwards

i think i've almost fully completed this game though? usually i might hear "half roguelike half townbuilder" and think ok so that's a 1,000-hour game plus a 1,000-hour game combined to make a 10,000-hour game. but at ~20 hours my save file already says 70-something percent. that's cool i think. it's been a neat package. though one thing i am NOT down with: apparently for 100% i have to sacrifice Ratau the tutorialman. i will be resorting to cloud save shenanigans for this purpose

so the only way i can get these immortality necklaces is from a postgame gacha thing, and i'm slightly in a hurry to gather the currency for it. because now i've started bringing the mini-bishops into my cult but only the Big Guy Who Waits megaboss devilcat has immortality off the bat, and i wanna hold onto the unique followers who are actually major characters. i suppose i can just resurrect them endlessly which i forget is a thing, but i'm worried about messing it up and leaving them with mangled limbs or whatever. a non-issue i'm sure, really i'd just rather not be mildly inconvenienced by people dying on me all the time

it is strange that the bishops are the way they are, then when they go followermode they act and for the most part look exactly the same as everyone else. big boss guy will happily laugh and pray alongside me, then immediately approach me with unique quest dialogue where he calls me pathetic and my cult gayer than his. yeah sure buddy i just saw your loyalty meter go up while you were getting drunk and dancing with me

i...brought Sozo mushroom man back from the dead because he was a unique character....and literally 5 seconds later he ate my immortal final boss guy..... wanted to quit out of the game immediately since i wasn't sure if i'd be able to resurrect a follower who was freaking eaten because why would i be. turns out i could thank god (me), game opened up with him bringing me back to life so i'm returning the favor. i'd say we're even now but he made me establish a whole religion in exchange for my life, all he has to do is continue walking around all cute in his little maid dress

i want to point out that Jooty and Majul have had a baby together. well since they've apparently forgotten about it guess i'll just use the kid to open up this door

yes i name all offspring by lazily combining their parents' names

i must say i'm building up a nice meaty Dead Corner in my camp, just a big fat trove of buried corpses to choose from if i'm ever running low on followers, now i know how inconsequential resurrection is. downside is they might become cursed but i just shove a couple crystals in them and they're back to normal aint nothin to it. welcome back to the waking world my darling spouse whose name i remember, yeah i just missed you so much NO it wasn't because you had a trait that helped me collect wood faster

i also lose 10 faith from performing resurrections but faith is also inconsequential most of the time. i feel like maintaining faith by having to make trade-offs is consistently presented as this major focal point of the game but i almost always have it at or around 100%. even if i majorly screw up, say by dying then immediately dying again somehow, and i lose most of it, i just press a button to dance near a group of people and it shoots right back up again

almost done with Sort Of New Game+ i think. i've been progressing real slow because i enjoy the hanging around my guys part better than the killing things part. i'd already fully upgraded everything and there hasn't been any noticeable scaling in power on mine or the enemies' end, and for the most part i know what to expect each run so it's a bit of a drag. but i want to see smallinated versions of the bosses frolicking around me so i press onward
