Surprise Buddy You Thought You That It Had Been The Last You'd See Of Me Around. laughing at "five pages at FFXIV" in that previous entry as i ready its thirtieth page. after several years i finally played a new expansion in that game, and exploring new areas got me jonesin for a lil ESO again. when i started this back up the other day the loading screen said "every once in a while, just pick a direction and run" and yeaa babey that's what i'm talkin bout....then i proceeded to feel completely lost without even having to run anywhere first

i ended up playing for about 20 minutes, just struggling to get back to grips with anything. pretty quickly i considered coming back later and just making a new character, even if only to help me slowly get reacquainted. coming from FFXIV where absolutely everything is doable on a single character i forget there are evil stupid games that do not work like this, so i figured it wouldn't totally be like starting again, which i've always had a bad habit of doing after taking extended breaks from MMOs

so i made a newguy today. if i was gonna have multiple characters i wanted to have as much variety as possible between them, but the other races are all so dam ugly man i'll just have an army of cats if that's cool with everyone. made him a Warden, don't know what that is nor do i really have an idea of how different each class plays anyway. i feel like even when i was playing this actively i didn't have much of a grasp on my class's identity, i just kinda rotated through weapons and leveled a buncha different abilities

apparetly champion points are shared between characters which is nice. as far as i could gather, the only real reason to level multiple characters aside from the slight change of pace is that there are achievements for maxing out each class? so i suppose i really was just starting the game again. nice that i can experience almost everything on one character but in that case why not just go the extra centimeter and let me change my class at will.....well i'm now remembering they sell the option in the cash shop to unlock previously unlocked stuff on a new character so i guess that answers that

Razum-dar buddy i'm realizing i've missed you and your textures that don't load in until three seconds after i've started talking to you!! honestly my biggest concern about feeling lost coming back to this game was that i don't remember a dang thing story-wise. didn't even remember this dude's name until i recognized it on the Khajiit naming convention wiki page. there's no easy way to recap things aside from quest markers on the map telling me "you saved the Gongerdon Hunkmages from succumbing to Jzhfhfjnzg's Curse" oh yeah how could i forget. sometimes i'll walk past an NPC and they'll say "the Hunkmages are forever in your debt ma'am...."

slowly started to remember how disconnected everything is anyway. i had another big fat FFXIV lore tome come in the mail earlier today so i guess i'm just still in that mood of expecting to be thoroughly absorbed by whatever fakeworld i'm inhabiting. i'm struggling to remember if there even was a big overarching story to this game, or if it's just a bunch of separate zones with their own questlines. if that is the case then i guess i'll just go back to exploring new zones on my original character. did two quests on this new guy before coming to this decision
