sorry it's been a little while since i checked in i've been busy fighting the Hell Wyrm

if you would draw your attention to the health bar. this is essentially the warm-up fight before Yiazmat to make sure i'm sufficiently pre-bored. not a difficult fight, just slightly unnerving knowing my gambits won't do 100% of the job for me so i could very feasibly have to start over due to falling asleep. the more difficult fight i did today was Zodiark

he likes to do his 50% chance of killing my guys move quite often. i think this fight best encapsulates why i don't superlove this game's combat, because it boiled down to taking the time to set up my gambits and then hoping for good RNG. once i actually managed to run in there without immediately dying he goes down real fast. he's actually a weirdly small guy look at him. anyway that's the final summon down i caught 'em all baby and apparently this one's actually mildly useful

now all that's left is the difficult due to taking forever boss and the difficult due to being difficult boss. then the actual final boss oh yeah i keep forgetting about that

hey guys i'm fighting Yiazmat currently. just watching my guys whack at him. each attack has a small chance of killing a guy of mine so that's a little whoa you know. anyway i got some time what are you guys up to. this is the part where a younger more naive zephie would say to email me telling me what you're up to but people would still be doing it years from now so i don't want that. man it's kind of annoying that my guys all take little steps here and there so i gotta keep controlling them to keep them in range of each other so Penelo can heal them. yeah i'm using her Basch and Fran for this. kind of funny since those were the underachievers for the first whatever thousand hours and now i've been using almost exclusively them for everything. may have used them more than the other half at this point. oh Basch just went down. ok he's back up. there goes Penelo oh man. it's ok the others have phoenix down gambits set up. hope i have enough to last the whole fight. Yiazmat is using "Cyclone" what does this do. whoaaa okay that's a little scary i gotta turn off doublespeed for a bit and manage this. i switched Penelo's Shell to Shellga alright alright my guys are going down a lot now. whoops i had my gambit for putting Decoy on Basch turned off things should be better now. this guide says the Yagyu Darkblade is the best weapon for the job but Basch can't use that, and only he can use the Genji Gloves which sucks. man my controller rumble is going crazy lol gonna rest it on my crotch for now if u get me hahaa. yeah the guide tells me to use all these debuffs technicks on him that my characters don't have the right jobs for which is freaking awesome. ummm his health is almost down to 90%ish i think. guys aren't going down too often anymore but i'm still a little mmm you know. had to go to the Necrohol of Nabudis beforehand which is always annoying, to talk to the invisible salesman to buy 99 hi-ethers, but i'm kind of burning through them at the moment. actually i should probably be using my quickenings while i have them huh. ironically they'll end up making the fight take even longer, disappointing damage output incoming. wow that was like not even noticeable on the health bar never mind that is not worth my time. i switched Penelo's ribbon out for the Sage's Ring which halves her MP usage. Fran still has a ribbon on so if Yiazmat uses his move that casts Stop she can still cure the others. he keeps using Death Strike which keeps killing my guys? weird name for such a move. i'mma be real i don't think i'm taking this dude down this attempt there's a hell of a lotta OHKOs happening. guide says i can retreat for a little bit to heal up but then Yiazmat will also start healing back up and i don't know if i'll have time to restock on items which is i think gonna be my biggest problem. i'm a little drunk i should probably mention. aaand there's my first full party KO. the other half are out now and golly this is painfully slow. jesus man i'm already down to almost half my phoenix downs and this stupid dragon still has like 85% health left. look guys i didn't anticipate the fight being this difficult and i thought i could just kinda ramble on about what's going with me for a while but i don't know. and that's game over. well hasn't this been the rudest of awakenings

tried again with the other half, focusing on dark damage output since that's his weakness. gamed overed again. bro it's entirely possible i have screwed myself with my job choices, every guide i find says to absolutely unequivocally use these debuff moves that none of my guys can use. around the 90% HP mark it just becomes a constant stream of one guy dying, revive them, the guy who revived them dying, other guy revives them, etc. and no one gets any actual attacks in

alright well whatever i have to do to get around my entire party being prime one-shot targets, i've decided i probably don't care enough to go through potentially many hours of trial-and-error to figure it out. i mentioned before that the reason i'm even giving 100%ing this game a glance is because i didn't want to start on any new games before i'm able to make video diaries. but, i'm able now, and i wanna play other games. 100+ hours it's been a good run, yeah it sucks to call it quits now when all i have left to complete my little skypirate trophy room is beat a couple bosses then fill in the gaps in my bestiary. but on the other hand, who cares

oh god what's going on in this game again uhhh sephiroth has the power crystal. it has been over 70 hours of game since i got started on this little almost-everything detour. immediately it's very funny how down-in-one-hit every enemy is. Basch and his bad brother have a long sad exchange and then there's two seconds of Hyah Hrugh Rah and it goes into another cutscene

you know i never noticed how much this game likes screen-shattering attack animations but it's a fair bit. i'm sure Vayne had other cool attacks but simply didn't get to show me them. after the credits rolled actually i played around with all the summons to see what they even had as well. sorry i finished the game spoilers

truly it would not be a final Final Fantasy fantasy boss without a straight up dude guy inexplicably transforming into a straight up hell demon. unfortunately this hell demon didn't spend hours in a cave fighting bats so he didn't measure up. peace idiot the war is over

that's Final Fantasy XII! wow it's over. i sure got emotional toward the end for a story i only like 60% remember by this point, i started this game in March damn. maybe i'll play the sequel at some point, if it ever stops being a DS strategy game and instead focuses on Basch (remembered he ends up becoming Larsa's shieldboy) Balthier and Fran, rather than the two least interesting main characters. anyway what a game. alright bye
